The wives to protect their dignity, then sacrifice themselves, one after another by jumping in a large pit of fire. Chittorgarh, had witnessed Saka and Johar, these brave traditions, in course of its history.
Padmavaat, a bollywood movie based on this, starred some big stars which was based on story of Rawat Ratan Singh and Queen Padmavati of Chittorgard. Can you fight your enemy so hard that he gets impressed by your valor and orders your statue to be raised in his capital? Yes! Jaimal and Patta’s Palace in Chittorgarh Fort symbolizes Rajput bravery. In 1567, as Akbar's army besieged the fort, Jaimal and Patta defended it and sacrificed their lives. Akbar, impressed by their valor, ordered statues of them in Agra!
Most of the folk songs which are there in Rajputana, have originated in Chittorgarh. Padharo Mhare Desh, Kesariya Balam, Nimboda Nimboda are to name a few famous ones. Some songs are composed on the bravery of soldiers like Gora Badal, who fought to defend the city even after their head was separated from their torso!
